In a balcony pew
a man of God
stole all the hope
that remained
in the heart of
a girl who was
not yet ready
to change,
in a heart that
was cold and
sad and hard
The words went
deep and forever,
never truly gone
I wonder if those
words saved any
souls that day
And if they did,
was it worth
a lifetime of
uncertainty,
the wanting through
silence, the desperate
wondering,
wandering
Turned away,
shut out,
forsaken
Believing but
not living,
drifting without hope,
joyless giving
